It's a mixed fishery of all disciplines !
Treasure made available all accounts.
Yearbook sales are slow at the moment but will start to ramp up as the weather gets better as normal.
Thank You to Mark Adams who has stepped up and said he will keep on top of the cutting grass.
Also a big thank you to our bailiffs who have been down most days sorting stuff out from the new security to general clearing up.
I want to remind people that they should not be posting anything on social media or doing anything that is deemed detrimental towards the club by the committee.
There has been stuff over the last few weeks, anything more and the individuals will be brought in front of the committee.
Working party 17/2/24
The Tree on the railway side has been completely removed as it was rotten and the branch in the water had broken away .
The stump has been grinded away as well so if we secure the grant from the angling trust this will allow vehicle access all around the pond.
The intention is to create another island in its place like in-between pegs 23 & 24
Metal sheeting removed from in the water on peg 6
Rest of bolts to finish fence installed
Peg 18 made good
Water level has dropped, making all pegs fisherable , there is a drain off pipe that had been blocked which has now been rodded so we should be able to control the levels to prevent us getting flooded out again.
The intention is to replicate what has been done to peg 18 to most of the pegs on site making them hard standing pegs and better access also this will reduce the maintenance that is required.
Main sign and Notice board updated with the rules that are in the year books
Grant submitted to angling trust for materials to re do peg ,6,7,8,9,17,18,19,20,21 & 22
all pegs will be solid stone pegs so will require no maintenance also stone to make the rest on the railway side accessible for vehicles all year ,in turn creating more disabled accessible pegs
Grant application already to submit in April when new applications go live. for windmill bubbler and solar power for the cabin.
Awaiting the council to arrange meeting to sort the new lease
STOCKING
New stock of 500 8-10” ide have been put in the pond from whitewater fisheries.which has seen an improvement on match weights and better sport for pleasure anglers .
1000 bream have been ordered for next years stocking (february )
Each year we will aim to stock fish but these will be fish that already reside in the lake, bream / chub/ ide / tench / crucian carp/ perch/ roach
We will NOT be stocking any F1s
We shall be netting the lake at the back end of the year and removing small jack pike and doing a biomass survey
The pellets that have been fed are not high protein but are pellets that have been advised by the fishery management people to help prevent infection and keep a healthy stock and will promote growth of the new fish.
We have made these for sale at cost if you wish to buy some . as these will be fed into the lake twice a week to help the fish.
These measures are all about protecting the future of the fishery and so that we do not have to stock all the time and improve the match weights and pleasure fishing so that people are catching top quality fish.
The keepnet ban has been put in place to help all the fish in the pond as every time you catch a fish it will get damage to scales and over time if they are not given time to recover properly they get sores/ scabs and become unwell and stop feeding and die.
so the proposed of keepnet ban throughout the spring and summer months unless in a match .or
As the carp fisherman do it will be a requirement to carry fish care if fishing for the specimen fish to treat the hook holds and any damaged scales .
More Working party dates will be put out once we have hopefully secured the grants.. Please attend and help the more of you members who turn and help the more jobs get done making it a better place for all .
AOB:
keepnet ban to be lifted end of june after the fish have finished spawning.
Then the 6hr rule will be back in force.
The new security camera will be
installed and will photograph all incoming and outgoing vehicles and send and email to the club
Pike removal!
This will be done when we do the biomass survey netting at the end of the year. Sean is going to speak to 3 lakes to see if they want the pike.
Siltex ?
Siltex will be added yearly to remove the silt on the bottom of the lake this will create a harder bottom and also create a better biodiversity within the water.
Once we have the grants secured working party's will be announced!
Grant for the bubbler has been submitted 15/3/24
Next meeting planned for June date TBC
